Xinhua, February 6, 2016 Adjust font size:

Local authorities were searching on the sea near the San Pedro Harbor in the Great Los Angeles area Friday afternoon after a mid-air collision of two small planes.

A plane was reported down about 3:14 p.m. local time (2314 GMT) in the area, local media said. The crew of a fishing boat reported the plane hitting the water.

The U.S. Coast Guard and Federal Aviation Administration confirmed the mid-air collision later.

Boats, helicopters and divers are involved in the searching. Entrance to Los Angeles Harbor has been closed to all vessels.

Casualty of the collision is still unknown. Endi
