Chinese leaders extend festival wishes to predecessors

Xinhua, February 5, 2016 Adjust font size:

President Xi Jinping and other Chinese leaders have visited their predecessors with seasons greetings ahead of the Spring Festival.

Former presidents Jiang Zemin and Hu Jintao as well as retired senior officials with top bodies ranging from the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee to military headquarters got personal visits either from the current leaders or from their representatives, according to a statement from the Central Committee's General Office on Friday.

The visitors wished their hosts a happy Spring Festival, good health and long lives, the statement said.

Many of the older generation expressed hope that Chinese people would unite to achieve the country's development goals.

Spring Festival, or the Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on Feb. 8 this year. Endi
