Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Hong Xiaoyong has met with Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on bilateral ties, according to the Chinese embassy here.

At the meeting here on Thursday, the two sides exchanged views on strengthening relations between the two communist parties and countries, promoting pragmatic cooperation in various areas, enhancing friendship between the two peoples, as well as exchanging greetings for the Chinese Lunar New Year.

During the meeting, Phuc also expressed his gratitude over the visit of Song Tao, head of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, who came to Vietnam in late January.

Song visited Vietnam as special envoy of General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee Xi Jinping to congratulate the success of Vietnam's 12th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV).

Earlier on Jan. 27 during the 12th National Party Congress, Phuc was re-elected as a member of the Politburo of the CPV Central Committee. Enditem
