Sevilla took a massive step towards booking a probably King's Cup final spot against FC Barcelona when they defeated Celta Vigo 4-0 in the first leg of their semi-final on Thursday night.
An Adil Rami header on the stroke of halftime gave Unai Emery's side a deserved lead after they had dominated the first 45 minutes in which goalkeeper Ruben Blanco had been Celta's best player and even detained a Kevin Gameiro penalty after Sergio Gomez had brought the striker down in the Celta area.
However, it was not until the second half that Sevilla made the decisive moves as Kevin Gameiro showed his pace and calm to put his side 3-0 ahead with goals in the 59th and 62nd minutes.
Both times his pace took him onto a through ball from Ever Banega and the French forward kept his calm to slide the ball past Ruben.
Celta worked hard to find and away goal to give them hope for the second leg, but a poor clearance from Jonny allowed Michael Krohn Delhi to collect Vitolo's pass and advance on Ruben before scoring his side's 4th of the night.
Wednesday saw Barcelona win the first leg of their semi-final at home to Valencia 7-0 and it would need a disaster of unheard of proportions to stop Luis Enrique's side reaching the final. Endit
