Germany's benchmark DAX index continues to decline

The benchmark DAX index at Frankfurt Stock Exchange on Wednesday continued to decline and lost another 146.22 points.

The weak economic data from the United States contributed partly to the decline, according to local analysts. The blue-chip index lost 1.53 percent and closed at 9,434.82 points.

Linde, an industrial gas company, rose by 0.91 percent. Thyssenkrupp added 0.86 percent. Deutsche Boerse advanced by 0.52 percent. Daimler climbed by 0.22 percent and K+S, a supplier of standard and specialty fertilizers, went up by 0.22 percent.

On the other hand, Deutsche Bank slumped by 6.02 percent after losing 3.89 percent the previous day. Deutsche Lufthansa shrank by 3.85 percent. Fresenius, a diversified health care company, slipped by 3.55 percent. Deutsche Post slid by 3.07 percent and Commerzbank plunged by 2.89 percent.

Daimler was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 526.88 million euros (around 574.69 million U.S. dollars). Endit
