Xinhua, February 4, 2016 Adjust font size:

A plane crashed in Benoni east of Johannesburg on Wednesday, killing three people on board, including an Austrian couple, authorities said.

The light aircraft burst into flames shortly after the pilot lost control of the plane en route to Limpopo Province, emergency service ER24 said.

Paramedics rushed to the scene, trying to save the lives of the three people on board.

"Unfortunately all three occupants had already succumbed to their fatal injuries," ER24 said.

The names of the victims were withheld until the next of kin had been notified.

The cause of the crash is not yet known. Enditem
