Tokyo stocks edge lower in morning on oil price decline, yen's rise

Tokyo stocks edged ever so slightly lower by the morning break Tuesday, as falling oil prices and the yen's rise weighed on investor sentiment.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average shed 0.53 point to 17,864.70, while the broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange edged down 0.82 point, or 0.06 percent, at 1,461.85.

Notable decliners by the break comprised iron and steel, mining and nonferrous metal-linked shares. Enditem
