Augsburg have added striker Alfred Finnbogason to their squad until the end of the season, the "Fuggerstaedter" confirmed in an official statement on Monday.

The 27-year-old Iceland international joined from Spanish outfit Real Sociedad San Sebastian after inking a deal until June 2016.

"We have followed Alfred Finnbogason's path for years with great interest. We are therefore pleased that the transfer worked out on short notice. He brings qualities that are going to improve our game," Augsburg's sporting director Stefan Reuter said.

Finnbogason played since 2014 for Real Sociedad San Sebastian where he donated two goals in 25 games. He recently played on loan at Greek outfit Olympiacos F.C..

"It is a dream to get a chance to play in the Bundesliga. I am really looking forward to the challenge at Augsburg. The talks with those responsible showed me that Augsburg is the right club for me," Finnbogason said. The new arrival received the jersey no. 27.

Augsburg occupy the 12th place in the standings. They clash with Frankfurt at the 20th round in Bundesliga on Feb. 6. Endit
