Over 10 mln foreign tourists visit Indonesia in 2015, exceeding target

As many as 10.41 million foreign tourists visited Indonesia last year, exceeding the 10-million target, the statistic bureau said here Monday.

In Bali, the center of country's tourism industry, foreign tourist arrivals rose by 6.65 percent from a year earlier to 363,800 in December, said Suryamin, head of the national statistic bureau.

The Indonesian government estimates 12 million foreign holidaymakers will visit the country this year, according to Tourism Minister Arief Yahya.

The government plans to add the inclusion of countries having free visa facilities to 84 from 45, as a favorable policy to lure more foreigners, said Coordinating Minister for Maritime and Fishery Rizal Ramli.

Indonesia expects 20 million foreign holidaymakers to come to the country by 2020, according to the minister. Enditem
