Adriano joins Miami United

Xinhua, January 30, 2016 Adjust font size:

Former Brazil international striker Adriano will end his two-year football exile by playing with US fourth-tier outfit Miami United FC.

Adriano, 33, joins Honduras midfielder Julio Cesar de Leon as one of Miami's marquee signings for 2016, according to a statement on the Florida outfit's website on Friday.

No details were given about the length of the contract or its value.

Brazilian media reported the former Inter Milan forward will also partly own the club and take on a role with club's marketing department.

Adriano has not played since representing Brazil's Atletico Paranaense in the Copa Libertadores in early 2014.

He has been training alone for the past two months and has reportedly lost more than nine kilos.

Beset by injuries and personal problems, Adriano has played just 10 matches in the past five years. Endit
