Attack on security personnel kills 2 in S. Afghanistan

Two people were killed when militants opened fire on a car in Kandahar city, the capital of southern Kandahar province on Friday, a police spokesman said.

"Unknown armed men, presumably Taliban militants opened fire on the car of security personnel, triggering gun battle during which an attacker and a security personnel were killed," Zia Durani told Xinhua.

One more attacker sustained injuries in the gunight, he added.

Taliban militants who are active in parts of Kandahar and the neighboring Helmand and Zabul provinces have yet commented on it. Enditem
