Tokyo stocks retreat in morning session

Xinhua, January 29, 2016 Adjust font size:

Tokyo stocks lost ground in the morning Friday as worse-than-expected industrial production data stoked concerns about Japan's economic outlook.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 88.36 points, or 0.52 percent, from Thursday to 16,953.09.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, shed 2.50 points, or 0.18 percent, to 1,389.60.

Notable decliners by the morning break comprised electric appliances, pharmaceuticals and air transportation-linked shares. Endit
