Several false alarms registered in Amsterdam

Xinhua, January 29, 2016 Adjust font size:

Several terror threats in Amsterdam on Thursday were ultimately been labeled as false alarms, the municipality of Amsterdam announced Thursday.

According to local Amsterdam newspaper Het Parool, at least three bomb threats were made at high schools, which led to the fear of a terrorist attack. The police went to the school, but at site an evacuation was deemed unnecessary.

The municipality of Amsterdam did not want to go into details, but confirmed the reception of terror threats.

Following the information submitted to the city, prosecutions and police, the agencies took several security measures. After a further investigation and evaluation, the three parties concluded the security measures could be downscaled.

Police are now looking for the person or persons who made the threats. It could be a joke or the act of a confused man, Het Parool reported. A criminal investigation is launched to determine the perpetrator. Endit
