Vietnam's communist party congress introduces new leadership

The new Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) leadership was introduced at the party's 12th national congress here Thursday, with Nguyen Phu Trong as general secretary.
According to a list announced at the national congress, the Political Bureau of the 12th CPV Central Committee includes 19 members.
Minister of Public Security Tran Dai Quang, Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc are on the list.
Tran Dai Quang (1956) was nominated to run for the post of the country's president by the CPV, while Nguyen Xuan Phuc (1954) was nominated for prime minister, and Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan (1954) for chairwoman of the National Assembly, said Vu Trong Kim, vice president and general secretary of the Vietnamese Fatherland Front Central Committee earlier this week.
The secretariat of the 12th CPV Central Committee includes three members - Luong Cuong, deputy director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army; Nguyen Van Nen, head of the Government Office; and Nguyen Hoa Binh, head of the Supreme People's Procuracy.
The Central Inspection Commission was also elected with 21 members. Tran Quoc Vuong, member of the Political Bureau of the 12th CPV Central Committee, was elected as head of the commission.
The 12th CPV Central Committee has 200 members. Enditem
