Spain's home mortgages rise by 16.4 pct in Nov.

The number of home mortgages granted to prospective buyers in Spain increased by 16.4 percent in November when compared with the same month of a year earlier, according to data published on Wednesday by Spain's Statistical Office, INE.

According to the INE, a total of 19,247 home mortgages were granted in November, which meant a 0.3 percent rise when compared with October.

The amount of capital loaned in November the year increased by 18.2 percent when compared with November, 2014 to 2.052 billion euros (2.230 billion U.S. dollars), while the average value per mortgage stood at 106,655 euros, 1.5 percent more than in the same month of a year ago.

The INE also reported that in the first 11 months of the year, home mortgages rose by 19.7 percent when compared with the same period of a year earlier, with the amount of capital loaned rising by 24.1 percent and the average value of mortgage increasing by 3.7 percent.

Home mortgages have been rising for 18 consecutive months on a year-on-year basis. (1 euro=1.09 U.S. dollars) Endit
