Macao's jobless rate stands low at 1.8 pct over 2015

Macao's general unemployment rate remained relatively low as it edged up 0.1 percentage points from the previous year to 1.8 percent in 2015, announced by the Statistics and Census Service on Wednesday.

The latest figure showed that the median monthly earnings of the employed Macao residents reached 18,000 patacas (about 2,242 U.S. dollars) by the end of 2015, climbing by 20.0 percent year-on-year.

The median monthly earnings of the total employees stood at 15,000 patacas (about 1,869 U.S. dollars), up 12.8 percent on year, the statistics agency said.

A total of 400,600 labor forces was counted with a labor force participation rate of 73.2 percent in the last quarter of 2015.

In terms of household employment, the average number of employed persons per household stood at 1.8 in 2015, the same as that in 2014, while the median monthly employment earnings per household increased by 3.7 percent year-on-year to 28,000 patacas (about 3,488 U.S. dollars). Enditem
