China to train professional farmers

Xinhua, January 27, 2016 Adjust font size:

China will include courses for farmers in its education and training plan in a bid to help modernize agriculture, according to a key policy document released on Wednesday.

Full-time junior farmers enrolled in training courses will able to apply for financial support. In addition, a five-year program will be launched to improve professional knowledge and skills of pioneers in the agricultural sector, according to the document released by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council.

The government will also channel more investment into modern agriculture technology, speed up the modernization of the seed sector and encourage diverse business entities and models.

The agricultural production structure must meet diversifying food consumption demands and enterprises will be encouraged to "go overseas" to balance agricultural export and import, according to the document. Endi
