Police arrest 17 Albanians accused of trafficking women

A total of 17 Albanians were arrested in a police operation organized in four countries against women trafficking and prostitution, an official with the Albanian General Directory of State Police (ASP) said on Tuesday.

They were allegedly involved in inciting and exploiting prostitution for gain and the distribution of narcotics from September 2014 to June 2015, according to Deputy Director of ASP Ardian Cipa.

Five of them were arrested in Albania, 11 in Italy and one in Slovakia, according to Cipa, who added the operation, coded "EMPESTA 2015", was concluded on Tuesday and jointly conducted by police from Albania, Italy, Slovakia and Belgium. Enditem
