Real Madrid appeal against transfer ban

Xinhua, January 27, 2016 Adjust font size:

Real Madrid on Tuesday lodged with appeal with FIFA against the decision to ban them from signing any players in the next two transfer windows.

The sanction, taken by the governing body of world football on January 15th, relates to irregularities regarding the signing of 39 players under 18 years of age between 2005 and 2014.

Atletico Madrid also received the same sanction for similar offences.

The appeal is expected to be heard within 6 weeks.

If the finding is not in Real Madrid's favor, the club has confirmed it will take a further appeal to the Court for Arbitration for Sport.

Real Madrid aim for the transfer ban to be temporarily overturned while the case is being heard, perhaps allowing them to make signings this summer.

Meanwhile club President Florentino Perez said on Tuesday that Real Madrid would not be panicked into making signings before the current transfer window shuts at the end of January.

"We are not going to sign in the winter transfer market, but it has nothing to do with the punishment. It is because we have the best players and the best coach," said Perez in an interview with the magazine 'France Football.' Endit
