China vows to advance strategic partnership with Laos

General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee Xi Jinping has expressed his willingness to advance the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership with Laos, a Chinese envoy said on Tuesday.

Bounnhang Vorachit, the newly-elected general secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) met with Xi's special envoy Song Tao.

Song, who is also the head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, conveyed a message for Xi to Bounnhang.

Xi, in the message, congratulated Bounnhang once again on his election of the LPRP party chief.

China is willing to work with Laos to strengthen strategic communication, boost political mutual trust and deepen pragmatic cooperation so as to push forward their comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, Xi said in his message.

Bounnhang said the Lao party, government and people have appreciated the support and help from China over the past years.

The Lao side is ready to join hands with China to further develop the relations between the two parties and two countries, he added.

Song said the Chinese side is willing to jointly implement the consensus reached between the two party chiefs with Laos, and boost cooperation in high-level exchanges between the CPC and LPRP, as well as in governance and personnel training. Endit
