Tarim oilfield natural gas output exceeds 200 bln cubic meters

Xinhua, January 26, 2016 Adjust font size:

Tarim Oilfield, operated by China's largest oil and gas producer PetroChina, has seen its natural gas output exceed 200 billion cubic meters since 2004, when China's West-East Gas project began operation.

The annual gas supply of the Tarim Oilfield in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region increased from 351 million cubic meters in 2004 to 23.55 billion cubic meters in 2015, according to the latest statistics from the PetroChina Tarim Oilfield Company.

In the past five years, Tarim Oilfield contributed one sixth of the national total gas output annually, according to the company.

The 200 billion cubic meters output of natural gas replaced about 270 million tonnes of coal equivalent, equal to an emission reduction of more than 13.33 million tonnes of hazardous substances.

As a major natural gas source for the West-East Gas Pipeline, Tarim Oilfield has provided gas supply to about 400 million residents and over 3,000 enterprises in more than 120 medium and large cities across 15 provinces and municipalities in China. Endi
