Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi Sunday said that the country is honored and delighted to host French President Francois Hollande.

"A warm welcome to French President @fhollande. We are honored & delighted to have him as the Chief Guest for Republic Day celebrations," Modi tweeted.

He added: "President @fhollande & I will meet in Chandigarh & Delhi. We will build on the ground covered during our previous interactions."

Modi is to meet the French president in the central government-controlled territory of Chandigarh, where the latter arrived around 1 p.m. (local time) as part of its three-day tour of India.

The French president will fly to the Indian capital, along with Modi, later in the evening and will be the chief guest at this country's Republic Day parade Tuesday. Endit
