Kerry says eliminating nuclear weapons a strategic priority

Xinhua, January 24, 2016 Adjust font size:

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said here on Saturday that eliminating nuclear weapons in the region is his country's strategic priority, Saudi Press Agency reported.

He said that his country is also concerned about the activities carried out by Iran in some other countries.

"We have also concerns about the support received by some terrorists groups, like Hezbollah, or Iran's self-support for its missiles program," he said.

Kerry on Saturday also met with foreign ministers from the six-nation Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) during a meeting in Riyadh. He underscored the importance of the partnership between the United States and the GCC countries.

Meanwhile, Saudi Foreign Minister Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir told a press conference that their meeting discussed the Iranian interference in the region's affairs. Endit
