The annual Vancouver Motorcycle Show opened Friday in Abbotsford, an eastern suburb of Vancouver in western Canada.
The three-day event, now in its 35th year, shows the latest models and products from the world's 12 largest motorcycle manufacturers and several other bike-makers, including Harley Davidson, Honda, Ducati and BMW.
Show manager Laurie Paetz told Xinhua that some bikes are prototypes never before seen. Paetz said it's also a fantastic opportunity to see some one-offs and what should stick in the future.
Yet the show isn't all about the latest gears, the coolest features and the newest bikes. It's also about nostalgia, with motorcycles of the past on display.
Vintage bikes are featured by members of the British Motorcycle Owners Club, such as bikes made by Triumph and Norton. Among the models are a 1969 Triumph Trident, a 1974 Trident and a 1962 Norton Dominator.
Nigel Spaxman, a member of the club, said the old British bikes have been manufactured in much simpler ways over the past decades. Yet it still requires adequate care to keep them safe on the road, which Spaxman said is part of the fun.
"You know I guess you get used to something and you remain loyal to it," Spaxman said. "And so 30 years later I still have Triumph motorcycles." Endi
