Werder Bremen sign Chelsea's Papy Djilobodji on loan

Xinhua, January 22, 2016 Adjust font size:

Senegal international Papy Djilobodji joined Bremen from Chelsea, the "Green-Whites" confirmed in an official statement on Thursday.

The 27-year-old centre-back inked a loan deal until the end of the current season. "We are very glad that we were able to quickly present an alternative after the last-minute departure of Assani Lukimya," Bremen's general manager Thomas Eichin said.

The new arrival, whose full name is El Hadji Papy Mison Djilobodji, played from 2010 until 2015 for French side FC Nantes, where he made 171 appearances to score nine goals, before he joined Premier League outfit Chelsea on September 2015, making only one appearance ever since.

Djilobodji has already joined his new teammate for the first trainings session Thursday. Relegation threatened Bremen clash with sixth placed Schalke to conclude the 18th round of Bundesliga on January 24. Endit
