Australian movie fans shocked as Hollywood stars attend screening of own film

Movie goers in the Melbourne suburb of Yarraville were left stunned on Monday night when Hollywood A-listers Quentin Tarantino, Samuel L Jackson and Kurt Russell made a surprise and unannounced visit to their cinema.

Tarantino, the Hollywood writer and director, visited the Sun Theatre in Yarraville alongside actors Jackson and Russell, who both star in the film.

The trio of stars gave fans a treat, mingling with them following a screening for Tarantino's new film The Hateful Eight.

Tarantino entered the screening through a side entrance and left Jackson and Russell in the midst of adoring fans. Tarantino thanked the crowd for their support for the film which was being shown on 70mm ultra Panavision film at the cinema.

"Well thanks for coming out to see my movie, it means a whole lot to me, I really appreciate it," Tarantino said after the applause settled.

"In particular I want to thank (cinema owner) Michael Smith and his wonderful, dedicated crew that brought the 70mm projector to give you guys in this town a hell of a show.

"I just wanted to say you are very lucky to live in a town that has a cinema like this, you are very fortunate."

Fans who were lucky enough to see the trio took to social media after the surprise visit to announce the shock sighting. The surprise came after Tarantino and Jackson made an appearance on Network Ten's The Project on Monday evening. Enditem
