Kuwaiti kidnapped in Lebanon

Xinhua, January 18, 2016 Adjust font size:

A Kuwaiti man was kidnapped Sunday from his farm in the Bekaa town of Qab Elias, the National News Agency (NNA) reported.

Three unknown assailants abducted the Kuwaiti national, Mohsen Barrak al-Majed, from his farm in Qab Elias, the NNA said.

The unknown assailants tied him up and the farm's Syrian janitor, and kept them locked up for three hours, the report said. They later shot the janitor in the leg before fleeing the place with the kidnapped Kuwaiti.

The Lebanese Red Cross medics transferred the janitor to hospital as security forces have launched a probe into the incident, the NNA concluded.

Two Kuwaiti citizens were abducted in Lebanon during 2012 and 2014 by gang members who released them later against a ransom. The criminals still remain at large and have never been identified.

The Gulf Cooperation Council regularly issues warnings to its citizens to avoid traveling to Lebanon due to security threats. Endit
