A booby-trapped car struck the residential building of the security chief of Yemen's southern port city of Aden on Sunday, causing casualties among bodyguards, a police official told Xinhua.

The vehicle that was loaded with explosives struck the main gate of the residential building of Aden's security chief, Brigadier Shalal Ali Shayea, the local police official said on condition of anonymity, adding that casualties were reported among guards.

Witnesses confirmed that a huge blast was heard near the house in Aden's neighborhood of Tawahi, which was followed by exchange of heavy gunfire. Endit
