8 militants killed in premature blast in Afghanistan

Xinhua, January 17, 2016 Adjust font size:

Some eight militants had been killed in a premature blast in Afghanistan's eastern province of Kunar, police said on Sunday.

"A total of eight Taliban militants were busy in building an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in a compound in Sawokhor locality of Nari district on Saturday. The IED device accidently exploded, killing the eight on the spot," a provincial police source told Xinhua.

The Taliban militant group has been using IEDs to launch roadside bomb and suicide attacks against security forces.

The mountainous province has been the scene of sporadic clashes between the militants and security force over the past couple of months.

The Taliban has yet to make comments. Enditem
