Bulgarian, Armenian FMs discuss joint transport projects

Xinhua, January 16, 2016 Adjust font size:

Bulgarian Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov and his Armenian counterpart Edward Nalbandian discussed here on Friday the implementation of joint transport projects linking regions of the Black Sea and South Caucasus.

"Armenia is an important international partner and longtime friend of Bulgaria, and today's visit gives an impetus to the bilateral relationship and reinforces our desire to develop projects of mutual interest," Mitov said at a joint press conference.

The use of opportunities in transport infrastructure, which connects the regions of the Black Sea and South Caucasus, is an important focus of the bilateral relations, Mitov said.

The two ministers agreed that these transport projects, including those within the China-proposed Belt and Road initiative, have to be implemented, Mitov said.

"This, of course, requires time, but I think we can deal very quickly with the practical realization of these projects, because there is political will," Mitov said.

Nalbandian, who during his visit on Friday met also with Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev and Parliament Speaker Tsetska Tsacheva, added that other areas of cooperation were touched as well, such as energy, agriculture and information technologies. Endit
