Singapore stocks close 1.93 pct lower

Singapore stocks finished lower on Thursday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 51.93 points, or 1.93 percent, to close at 2,644.57.

A total of 1.34 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 1.22 billion Singapore dollars (847.2 million U.S. dollars).

Decliners outnumbered gainers 327 to 100, while 500 others finished unchanged.

The STI index gained 4.72 points, or 0.18 percent, to close at 2,696.50 on Wednesday. Endit
