Iran's Revolutionary Guards detained two U.S. boats with 10 crew aboard after the boats entered Iranian territorial waters in the Gulf "illegally," the country's semi-official Fars news agency reported on Wednesday.

The report said the two boats were captured by naval forces of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps near Farsi Island two km inside Iranian territorial waters. (Iran-U.S.-Boats)

KABUL -- An earthquake was felt in Afghan capital of Kabul at early hours of Wednesday that also shook most parts of northern and northeastern parts of the country.

The quake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale jolted 28 km south of Jarm, a district of northern Afghan Badakhshan province near the border with Tajikistan took place at 12:35 a.m. Wednesday (20:05 GMT on Tuesday), according to U.S. Geological Survey. (Afghanistan-Earthquake)

WASHINGTON -- U.S. House of Representatives on Tuesday easily passed legislation to impose harsher sanctions against the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) in response to its nuclear test.

The measure, passed by a vote of 418 to 2, would require the president to sanction those engaging in transactions with DPRK related to weapons of mass destruction, arms, luxury goods, money laundering, counterfeiting and human rights abuses, The Washington Post reported. (U.S.-DPRK-Sanctions)

BRUSSELS -- NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg strongly condemned the terrorist attack on Tuesday in Istanbul, calling it "brutal" in a statement released later of the day.
