Singapore stocks close 1.54 pct lower

Singapore stocks finished lower on Monday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 42.38 points, or 1.54 percent, to close at 2,708.85.

A total of 1.8 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 1.05 billion Singapore dollars (734.3 million U.S. dollars).

Decliners outnumbered gainers 342 to 90, while 493 others finished unchanged.

The STI index gained 21.32 points, or 0.78 percent, to close at 2,751.23 on Friday. Enditem
