Gulf Arab countries to address Iranian interference

Gulf Arab countries agreed here on Saturday to form an effective mechanism to address the Iranian interference, Saudi Press Agency reported.
Foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GGC) member states held an extraordinary meeting in the Saudi capital Riyadh on Saturday to discuss the current Gulf-Iran tensions.
The ministers urged the international community to take necessary measures to compel Iran to stop its activities of destabilizing the region, including its support for terrorism, its interfere in the internal affairs of the GCC members and other regional countries, and the use or threat with use of force.
Ties between Gulf Arab countries and Iran were further strained after Saudi Arabia executed a Saudi Shiite cleric, Namir Baqer Al Namir, earlier this week, which has led to Iranian protestors attacking the Saudi diplomatic missions in Tehran and Mashhad.
In response, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain cut diplomatic relations with Iran, while other Gulf countries either summoned the Iranian envoys, or withdrew their ambassadors and issued condemnation.
During the meeting, the ministers expressed full support for Saudi Arabia, stressing that the GCC countries will take further measures to address the attacks on Saudi diplomatic missions in Iran.
The GCC Ministerial Council called on all states and the international community to take serious and effective steps to prevent such attacks on diplomatic missions in Iran. Endit
