Tokyo shares inch up by break on rebound in Shanghai market

Tokyo shares ended the morning session slightly higher on Friday after a 4-day decline as sentiment here was lifted by a rebound in China's Shanghai stocks market and a strengthening of the Chinese yuan against the U.S. dollar.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average edged up 69.56 points, or 0.39 percent, from Thursday to 17,836.90.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 4.97 points, or 0.34 percent, to 1,462.91. Enditem
