Tokyo shares end sharply lower by break

Tokyo shares ended the morning session sharply lower on Thursday as sentiment here was hit by plunge in China's stocks market.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average plunged 324.28 points, or 1.78 percent, from Wednesday to 17,867.04, after briefly falling more than 2 percent.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 24.19 points, or 1.62 percent, to 1,464.65. Enditem
