Bolivia midfielder Lizio joins Botafogo

Xinhua, January 3, 2016 Adjust font size:

Bolivia international midfielder Damian Lizio has joined two-time Brazilian Serie A champions Botafogo on a year-long loan, according to media reports on Saturday.

Botafogo will have the option of securing the 26-year-old on a permanent deal from La Paz outfit Bolivar in December, the Globo newspaper said.

"I am happy and motivated by this opportunity to play in a country where football is so competitive," Lizio said.

"I will have a chance to be a part of a historic club in a team that will challenge for the title. I go there with a dream of continuing to develop my career and I hope to show them what I'm capable of."

Argentina-born Lizio has been capped six times for Bolivia since making his international debut in 2014.

Botafogo have already made six new signings since earning promotion to Brazil's top-flight by winning the Serie B title last month.

Four of those are foreigners: Joel Carli (Argentina), Pedro Larrea (Ecuador), Gervasio Nunez (Argentina) and Lizio. Endit
