12 killed in traffic accident in northern India

Twelve people were killed Saturday when the jeep in which they were traveling rammed into a bus that was carrying foreign tourists in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, police said.

The Tata Max jeep was carrying 13 pilgrims who had gone to the Prabhunath temple in Nepal.

The tragedy occurred Saturday morning as their vehicle collided head-on with the tourist bus near Sudama Bhatta near the Nepalese border, police said.

Ten persons died on the spot while two others succumbed to injuries at hospital. Endit
