Rwandan President Kagame announces to run for third term

Rwandan President Paul Kagame has announced he will run for another term after his second seven-year term expires in 2017.

"You requested me to lead the country again after 2017. Given the importance and consideration you attach to this, I can only accept," Kagame said in his end of year message broadcast on national television.

In a referendum last month, 98.3 percent of Rwandans voted in favour of a constitutional amendment to allow Kagame to seek re-election. Endit
