Guangdong stops losing streak as Xinjiang still leads

Guangdong ended a run of three straight defeats by crushing over Tianjin 126-104 on road while Xinjiang avenged Fujian 122-88 to maintian their top position in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league here on Wednesday.

Former NBA player Yi Jianlian had 37 points and 10 rebounds and Ike Diogu, who shot 8-of-9 from outside the arc, contributing 36 points and 11 rebound to help Guangdong keep their unbeaten record in Tianjian. Jordan Crawford led Tianjin with 35 points and 4 steals.

Guandong put away what had been a close game for first half, extending their lead to 17 points in third quarter with a 15-2 spurt. Tianjin failed to cut the deficit and had to went with reserves for the most time of the final quarter.

Xinjiang suffered their first league defeat when they faced Fujian on Dec. 10, but the league leader enjoyed a 40 points revenge to secure a fifth consecutive victory at home tonight.

Andrew Goudelock had a game-high 28 points and Andray Blatche added 26 points and 12 rebounds for Xinjiang. Zhou Qi and Li Gen scored 14 points each.

Xijiang led by as many as 17 in the first half and while Fujian were unable to close the gap after the break. Goudelock's 3-pointer give Xinjiang a 101-60 lead in the end of third quarter and made the last quarter to be garbage time.

In other matches, Liaoning hammered Shenzhen 96-82, Guangsha edged Shanghai 119-115, Qingdao defeated Jilin 130-117, Jiangsu upset Zhejiang 108-105, Shandong tamed Aolong 120-116, Sichuan downed Shanxi 108-101, and Tongxi beat Bayi lost to Tongxi 86-90. Endit
