Zero tolerance for separatist Taiwan investors on mainland

Xinhua, December 30, 2015 Adjust font size:

A Chinese mainland spokesman has slammed the small bunch of Taiwan people who use money they made on the mainland to support secessionist activities for "Taiwan independence".

"We will never tolerate those small number of people who make money on the mainland on one hand and support separatist activities to undermine ross-Strait relations on the other," said Ma Xiaoguang, spokesman for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office.

He made clear that the Chinese mainland will always support and encourage mutually-beneficial cross-Strait exchanges and cooperation in various fields.

The Chinese mainland has announced new measures to ease restrictions on Taiwan investment early this month. From Jan. 1, 2016, 24 sectors, including advertising, packaging, and clothing, will be open to individually-owned businesses from the island. Previously they were only allowed to explore retail and catering opportunities.

Moreover, the number of regions open to individually-owned Taiwan businesses has been increased from nine to all except Tibet, Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia and Gansu. Endi
