Roundup: Pakistan's KSE stays bullish amid scarce participation

Pakistan's Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) recorded the third straight day of bullish trade on Wednesday but overall participation remained on the lower side as local investors were confused over the indifferent trading by the foreign investors.

The benchmark KSE 100-Index inched up slightly by 0.04 percent or 13.14 points to 32,825.03 points on Wednesday, compared with Tuesday's 32,811.89 points. During the three-day bullish run, the main index gained 314.50 points.

The KSE All Share Index swelled by 0.06 percent or 12.65 points to 22,880.68 points, the KSE 30-Index moved up marginally by 0.07 percent or 12.70 points to 19,322.52 points, the KMI 30-Index increased by 0.16 percent or 91.77 points to 55,738.98 points, whereas the Islamic All Share Index improved by 0.17 percent or 26.76 points to 15,475.04 points.

During Wednesday's trading session, the key index moved in a narrow band of 227.72 points as it touched an intraday high of 32,961.78 points as against an intraday low of 32,734.06 points.

Market volumes depleted by 44.76 percent or 64.785 million shares to 79.953 million shares on Wednesday, compared with 144.739 million shares posted on Tuesday.

Market capitalization augmented by 0.02 percent or 1.703 billion rupees (16.702 million U.S. dollars) to 6.930 trillion rupees while on the flip side trade value reduced by 39.66 percent or 3.4 billion rupees to 5.173 billion rupees.

Among 326 active scrips on Wednesday, prices of 164 issues advanced, 147 declined, whereas values of 15 other companies stayed unchanged.

TRG Pakistan Limited, Pak Elektron Limited, and Jahangir Siddiqui Company Limited were the top traded companies with turnovers of 8.883 million shares, 8.268 million shares, and 3.746 million shares, respectively.

Unilever Foods was the top price gainer with increment of 200 rupees to 6,200 rupees while on the flip side Nestle Pakistan led the major price shedders with decrement of 230 rupees to 7,750 rupees. Enditem
