Beijing adopts QR code to manage facilities along Chang'an Avenue

Xinhua, December 30, 2015 Adjust font size:

More than 1,100 items of street furniture along the Chang'an Avenue, Beijing's main artery, have been labelled with QR codes as an experiment in urban management.

The labelled items, such as trashcans, fences and bus stop signs, are along the section of road between Jianguomen and Fuxingmen, passing by the Tiananmen Square in downtown area.

By scanning the code, people can find information about the appropriate property management department and responsible personnel and report directly on the facility's sate of repair, cleanliness, among others, to officials at the city administration commission

Xie Guomin, a member with the commission, said giving the public facilities "identities" will help the management departments find and solve problems.

Han Jianping, a landscape official with the commission, said the codes will be used in 16 more districts of the city next year and across the whole municipality in 2017. Endi
