Morris notches 38 in Beijing's 10th straight win

Xinhua, December 29, 2015 Adjust font size:

Randolph Morris dominated the paint with a game-high 38 points and 15 rebounds, giving defending champion Beijing their 10th straight victory as they eased past Foshan 110-88 in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league on Tuesday.

Three Beijing players scored double-digit points. Wang Xiaohui had 17 points on career-high five 3-pointers. Stephon Marbury added 14.

After trailing at 13-10 early in the first quarter, Beijing took an 8-0 run to come back into the game. Beijing's Zhang Qingpeng made his 1,000th three-pointer in career, becoming the third player in CBA history to have achieved that landmark after Zhu Fangyu and Wang Shipeng. Beijing led by 21-13 as the first quarter ran out.

Wang Xiaohui made three consecutive shots beyond the arc in the final two minutes of the third quarter, followed by Marbury's another at the buzzer beater. Beijing outscored the opponents 42-27 in this period, and built a 21-point margin into the last 12 minutes.

Foshan never came closer than 20 points thereafter, and the defending champ sealed a comfortable win.

Five Foshan players had double-figure points, led by Ju Mingxin's 20.

Other nine matches of the 24th round will be held on Wednesday.  Endi
