Xinjiang's Xirelijiang gets additional one-game suspension for abusing referee

Xinhua, December 29, 2015 Adjust font size:

Xinjiang guard Xirelijiang was slapped with an additional one-game suspension for abusing referee, the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) announced on Tuesday.

Xirelijiang was called for a defensive foul with 2:44 to go in the second quarter of the 23rd round match against Zhejiang last Sunday. He turned back to use abusive words to assistant referee and was called for a technical foul.

Xirelijiang was ejected after getting another technical foul as he continued his abusive words to the referee.

Xirelijiang will miss the 25th round match due to the punishment. He will also be absent in the 24th round for automatic one-game suspension after being ejected.

The Xinjiang club, sitting at CBA's top place with 20-3, was also fined 20,000 yuan (about 3,000 U.S. dollars) for Xirelijiang's inappropriate behaviour.  Endi
