Obama to host Canadian PM at White House in March

U.S. President Barack Obama will host Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at the White House for an official visit with a state dinner on March 10 next year, the White House said Monday.

The visit will be an opportunity for the U.S. and Canada to deepen their bilateral relationship, which is "based on a shared history, common values, and a vast and intricate network of cultural, familial, and commercial ties," White House spokesman Josh Earnest said in a statement.

The visit is also intended to advance cooperation on important bilateral and multilateral issues, such as energy and climate change, security, and the economy, Earnest added.

Trudeau was sworn in as Canada's new prime minister on Nov. 4 after his Liberal Party won the election in October. Endit
