Tokyo shares ended the trading Monday higher on bargain hunting after the Nikkei index's five-day losses last week and a rise in crude oil prices also helped boost sentiment here.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average jumped 104.29 points, or 0.56 percent, higher from Friday at 18,873.35.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange ended up 13.03 points, or 0.86 percent, to 1,529.22.
Gainers were led by pulp and paper, shipping and utilities issues.
The turnover was about 1,543.3 billion yen (about 12.81 billion U.S. dollars). Enditem
