Artists told to learn from dramatist

Liu Yunshan, senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC), has called on Chinese artists to learn from Yan Su, a prominent military dramatist.

Liu, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks during a meeting with Yan's family and lecturers of a special meeting to introduce Yan's praiseworthy deeds.

He praised Yan's devotion to art and his moral integrity and said Yan is an example for all.

The hard work and noble spirit of Yan should be more widely known, he said, calling on artists to be faithful to the Party and pay more attention to ordinary people's lives in their creations.

He also called on Chinese artists to be more confident in their culture and values and create more inspiring works.

The 85-year-old Yan is a popular military dramatist and songwriter. Endi
