No IS training camps here: Philippines gov't

Xinhua, December 22, 2015 Adjust font size:

Philippine government on Tuesday denied the report that terrorist group Islamic State (IS) has set up a training camp in the country.

"According to National Security Adviser Secretary Cesar Garcia: ISIS has no training camps in the Philippines. What ISIS-linked personalities have done is to try to link up with local jihadist/terrorist groups," said Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr..

Some of these ISIS-linked personalities, who are really few in number, have also sought refuge in the base areas of these local terrorist groups, Coloma added.

A video, allegedly released by the IS, featured supposed recruits while undergoing basic assault and jungle training in a supposed jihadi training camp in the Philippines. The footage shows the camp belongs to "soldiers of the Caliphate in the Philippines", an IS related group based in southern Philippines.

The recruits, clad in black clothes and masks, were seen crawling under a barbed fence, climbing ropes ladders and practicing with weapons. Endit
