Moldova's President Nicolae Timofti on Monday nominated businessman and ex-Premier Ion Sturza for the post of Prime Minister, with the hope that the parliament would finally support the candidate.

MOSCOW -- It is currently impossible to decipher the flight recorder of Russia's Su-24 fighter jet downed by Turkey as the microchips have been damaged, the Russian Defense Ministry said Monday here.

"Decoding of the data from the microchips is impossible at this point due to internal damages, and we are considering asking for help from Russia's specialized scientific institutions to read the data," Sergei Bainetov, head of the ministry's flight safety department, told a press briefing. KHARTOUM -- A delegation of South Sudan's major rebel group arrived in the capital Juba on Monday to negotiate with President Salva Kiir's government on implementation of a peace deal signed by the two sides.

According to local South Sudanese media, the delegation left the rebel-held east of South Sudan to Ethiopia before flying to Juba, noting that the delegation did not include the rebel leader Riek Machar. (South Sudan-Peace Talks)

KABUL -- Two rockets fired by militants towards the Afghan capital of Kabul struck at a diplomatic enclave in central part of the city on Monday night, causing panic among the residents, sources said.

"The rockets landed near Zambaq Square with big bangs. Security forces are verifying the incident. There is fear of loss of life or injuries by the attack which took place at around 09:00 p.m. local time," a security source told Xinhua. (Afghanistan-Rocket Attacks) Endi
